Where can I take my 7 yr old to learn in a fun way about, well, anything really?
This week the questions are about planets and evolution.
Next week, who knows!
Anywhere in Kanagawa, Tokyo or Chiba prefectures.
He's bilingual so either Japanese or English info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Paula,

If it's about planets and evolution, Yokohama Science Center (Yokohama Kodomo Kagakukan) is a fun place to learn more about it.

And if you live in Kanagawa and can read some Japanese, I used to rely on the following book to make day trips with my son when he was younger. It's illustrated and easy to search info. Unfortunately, it's sold out at the following site, but perhaps you can place an order at your local book shop.

Or if you prefer something in central Tokyo, the Science Museum next to the Budokan will be nice.

There are another two science museums in Odaiba One is http://www.miraikan.jst.go.jp/index_e.html and a science museum in Ueno http://www.kahaku.go.jp/english/. There are several other museums in the Ueno area and the zoo. There are two maritime museums - one in the Odaiba area and one in Yokohama. A lot of these museums are hands on so you can learn from doing even if there are not a lot of signs in English.
Then, in Tokyo there are museums of transportation, earthquake, electrical, broadcasting, paper, drum. There is a silk museum in Yokohama and a curry museum. Some are listed here http://www.tokyoessentials.com/national%20science%20museum.html
A lot are linked here http://www.dnp.co.jp/museum/icc-e.html
Don't forget the zoos and the parks. The parks in the Kanagawa area are great. There is a planatarium in Ikebukero in the Sunshine building. There are several aquariums.
