Moko Igarashi, a good friend of mine, runs Miyabi Arashi, "Beautiful Storm", a taiko school. She teaches both children and adults. She has classes at Nishi Machi International School, Tokyo American Club, American School in Japan and a few other places.

Moko is a musical genius and a magical teacher with kids ! I used to play with Moko's group but am currently too busy to play with two groups. Please tell her I recommended her.

For adult classes, Waraku Daiko, the group I play with now, has classes on Thursday mornings and Sundays. Call me or email me if you want more information.

Outdoor performances lasting one hour this weekend by Waraku Taiko will be on the open space at the CI Plaza, which is on the north side of Aoyama Dori at Gaienmae subway.

Hope to see you there Saturday at 3 pm (Oct 20) or Sunday at 5 pm (Oct 21).

From Cath Bernatt:
On Monday night, March 17, 2003 (new date, new description and new price!), Aka Oni Daiko, the taiko group I am a member of will be performing at the FCCJ (Foreign Correspondence Club). The evening will begin at 18:30 with a buffet dinner. Aka Oni Daiko's show starts at 19:30 and will end at 21:00. In addition to taiko, there will be a solo yokobue performance (Japanese bamboo flute) by professional flute player Jeannette Ohmae (Tosha Rosho) and traditional Japanese dance. We will perform two sets with an live workshop in between to give all of you a chance to try out taiko. If you have wanted to come and see us perform, there is no better evening to do so!! Should be a really fun and special night.
Though normal admission to FCCJ events requires you to be a member, Aka Oni Daiko has been given special permission to invite as many paying guests as we want. Tickets cost 2,000 yen which includes the buffet dinner (excluding drinks). We need to make an advanced booking.

Once you reserve, you are committed to paying that fee, unless you cancel 48 prior to the performance (March 15) which is the latest we can submit the list of Aka Oni Daiko Guests. If you would like to come, please email me and I will add your names to the reservation list. On the night of the performance, just give your name and say you are guests of Aka Oni Daiko.

Hope to see many of you there! Check out our website at http://www.akaonidaiko.com
