By Caterina Yajima on Sunday, March 16, 2003 - 6:56 pm:Does someone know about HORIZON JAPAN (a new int'l school starting in April) or about New International school situated in Ikebukuro? I'm interested in both of them but the first one is for K to grade 6 and the second one is until grade 9. I thought their dual linguistic system is interesting and revolutionary but once child completed it and has to start high school, will degree certificate be accepted? For example, Horizon Japan starts on April like a Japanese school but from degree 7 other international schools will start in August! Please give me some information.

We are one of three international schools in Yokohama city, which have been accredited by the Kanagawa Prefectual Government and have numerous affiliates throughout the world. Our team of educators and consultants has been gathered from around the globe and have all played an integral role in developing our international curriculum. By Cornelia on Thursday, June 21, 2007 - 10:15 pm:I think that new schools always need a few years to iron out various problems. I've heard of one family that is about 80% happy with Horizon ( I don't know anyone that is 100% happy with the school they have chosen, and this means all of them from ASIJ to Nishimachi to Lycee, etc). I also know that teachers leave other schools as well. We always have a one or two teachers leaving at my daughter's school (NewIS). After about 2-3 years, some teachers like to move on to another country. I do think that in one or two cases that they have been asked to leave, for professional reasons. In other words, you probably should check the school out personally (this goes for any school). Try, if at all possible, to speak to more than just one parent at the school. Parents will open up and be more candid in one on one conversations.
