Hello! I am Angel, a filipina 27y/o currently residing in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. I need any job positions available. Though i only speak basic Nihongo but I can speak very well in english. Since it is hard for me to work in companies here, I am willing to work any job positions u can give. I can do waitressing, cleaning, tutoring (in english to kids) babysitting, factory work and massage (since i study thai massage in Thailand). I can be of help in the office (for offices not requiring japanese skills). I am not good in japanese that is why i couldn't find jobs in japan though i have graduated AB psychology in the Philippines. I have worked experience in Advertising as an Assistant Marketing Manager in our country for 4 years. Though this is not necessary I just want you to know that I am willing to learn anything because I don't want to spend my time without earning while I still don't have kids on my own. I have experience taking good care of kids (my sister's kids) so it is not hard for me to babysit coz I love kids. Salary is negotiable.

My former nanny/housekeeper is seeking a new sponsor and part-time or full-time work; preferably live-out, but she'll do live-in. She was the head pediatric nurse at her hospital for 15 years before coming to Japan from the Phillipines, and is exceptionally hard working and wonderful with children, as well as housework. Her name is Leonila (we call her NeeNee)and she can be reached anytime @813 8032418297

By Sari Helen Krassin on Thursday, March 2, 2006 - 9:39 pm:

Lisa, are you leaving the country why are you no longer able to sponsor someone. How long did you sponsor her?

By Lisa Crenza on Friday, March 3, 2006 - 4:10 am:

Yes, we are out of the country and she is being sponsored by someone else who wants her to work one day a week for no pay, or they won't re-sponsor her. She called me and asked if I could help her. Because she was such an amazing helper while we were there I told her I would do what I could.

By Sari Helen Krassin on Friday, March 3, 2006 - 11:49 am:

Someone please sponsoer NeeNee, she is a wonderful person and needs fulltime work. I any have enough work for 2x a month. Please sponsor the sweetest woman. She is a Philapina nurse good with children, housework, and hard working

By Nancy on Friday, March 3, 2006 - 8:35 pm:

Lisa

It seems that the sponsoring family often gets one day per week of cleaning at no charge by the housekeeper. It is difficult to find a sponsor and the ones that do are grateful and I am told this is how they show their appreciation. It wasn't always this way. I recall a time when what was on offer was 4 hours of babysitting or cleaning free of charge.

By Mary Ann Torcuator on Friday, March 3, 2006 - 9:11 pm:

In addition to that one day free in exchanges of sponsorship,My point of view is really dramatic,How could anyone took advantage of the situation,It seems that slavery has gone back on a modern day.If only you knew how much this poor ladies are feeling then perhaps you will have a little shame.one day per week free is really too much!!!!! But once a week free baby sitting after 6pm is fair enough.

By Tonette Binsol on Saturday, March 4, 2006 - 9:46 am:

Nancy, Mary Ann, when did that form of slavery start? Was it an agreement between the sponsor and the nanny? Who is the victim here in this structure? The nanny or the sponsor or both of them? I think it's a form of human trafficking or de-humanizing if you'll forgive my word for such a short-term trade.

As another analysis, is this operation legal? Those who can afford to sponsor and doing such a "privilege" must have helped organize such a new wave of "visa" trades. I don't think it will be too much to pay for the services rendered always or provide free food or any present at least. Are we exploiting this trade now also and we are part of this exploitation?

I think we should promote goodness and fairness above all and not take advantage of the situation. This is just my personal view.

Filipino nannies have 2 general categories: transferees and direct hires. Transferees from HK or Singapore usually experience worse nightmares than the direct hires.

If you have Filipino nannies in your reach, please inform them to participate in this survey:

http://www.tpmovers.org/domestic_workers_japan.htm

This could help their future... I just had some replies from some mentioning that it might not be favorable to them to have a secured future if institutionalization becomes possible. Thus for these nannies they prefer to work in a hide and seek situation with short-term thinking and just happy with one year visa and if lucky with a kind sponsor for the visa renewal. I hope concerned sponsors and volunteers here could help them prepare for their future. Individuals have different plans in life but if we really care for everybody, let's prepare a favorable environment for them too. All of us get older each day after all.

Hope this helps... by the way, are nannies treated as slaves? Is this a natural phenomenon? I am not sure because I only got hold of such a concept in a caste system which must have disappeared in the evolution of time.

By Nancy on Sunday, March 5, 2006 - 12:31 am:

Mary Ann, Tonette, if you read my post correctly you would see that I was only passing along information. I didn't say that I agree. But Mary Ann, why do you feel that babysitting is fair? Presumably after working a full day, you are suggesting that babysitting starting at 6 pm is not work? Of course it is.
Tonette, I don't know how this practise started but it seems it was something like this: If someone who can sponsor doesn't want a housekeeper, but sponsors one all the same, then the housekeeper has a valid visa and basically works for other families and is earning money, often more than if she worked exclusively for the sponsoring family. But it is very likely that the housekeeper lives in the sponsors' home, thus having the benefit of room and board. Additionally the sponsor provides not only room and board, but may provide paid vacation, health insurance, tickets home to visit family, etc. So the one day a week, or half day a week may not be compensated in the traditional way, but there is still some form of compensation. However, I also know that not everyone who can sponsor wants to so it seems the housekeepers began to offer an incentive to encourage someone to sponsor them.

By Lisa Crenza on Sunday, March 5, 2006 - 10:03 pm:

NeeNee is live-out, not insured, and receiving no benefits other than sponsorship. She really needs a new sponsor. Please contact her.

By Nancy on Monday, March 6, 2006 - 7:15 am:

Lisa

By "not insured" does that mean she has no health insurance coverage? Or is she paying these premiums personally?

If NeeNee's visa is going to expire shortly, I was told that she can go to immigration and tell them she is looking for a new sponsor, and she will be given an extension to give her time to find one. I do hope she does find a new sponsor. Someone with her experience and references should be able to. You can also suggest to her that she contact the relocation companies, as they know which families are coming to Japan, and often a request to assist in finding help is made through the company. While some families want to bring their housekeeper with them to Japan, this is not always feasible. People do this as they want to try and avoid paying the going rate in Yen to their help. But of course the housekeeper learns very quickly that she has a bad deal and with her valid visa, she can look for work elsewhere. Sad but true, the figure that is stated on paper to satisfy immigation, is in these cases not the actual compensation.

By Lisa Crenza on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 - 12:41 am:

Nancy,
By "not insured" I was referring to the fact that her current sponsor is not providing insurance for her. I appreciate your suggestions, and will make sure she knows that she can ask for an extension. Thanks for your assistance.

By Diana Bories on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 - 10:45 am:

To anyone is need of an exceptional Nanny/housekeeper, I would like to highly recommend Maribuen Dangan ("Weng"). After living in Tokyo for 2 years, we moved to Singapore 1 year ago and hired Weng shortly thereafter. Weng quickly became an essential part of our family. We are moving back to the US this summer (July) and are trying to obtain a visa for her, however, it appears that this is unlikely. Therefore, we would like to assit her obtain a sponsor/employment in Tokyo.
Weng possesses every quality a person should have to effectively manage a home and care for children. She has a strong bond with our Children, ages 4 and 2, and we trust her to the point that we leave them with her when we travel in Asia. Also, she has traveled with us to Tokyo on two ocassions and will go there again with us in May. She liked it very much and would be interested in moving there.
Weng is hard-working, mature, intelligent, organized, sel-motivated, flexible, among many other qualities. She is 42 years old and has 13 years experience with "Ex-pats" in Singapore. In addition, she cooks like a chef, both western and asian dishes. There is much much more I can say. For anyone interested, please contact me, Diana, Weng's employer, at dmoralesbories@yahoo.com.
Thank you.

Do you need a (good) housekeeper or baby sitter?

My housekeeper, Ester, is reliable, fast, thorough, and honest. I recommend her without hesitation. Some of the families that she normally works for will be going away for the summer and she is looking for work. She has some daytime hours free for housekeeping and evenings free for baby sitting. She has a sponsorship. You can reach her at happydimplelady@yahoo.com or 080 3487-5904.

I would like to highly recommend Gloria RheaEDatu as a nanny/housekeeper. She worked for me for approximately a year before my family moved to southern Japan. When Rhea started with us my daughter was four months old and my son was two years old. Despite having two very young children to watch Rhea was always enthusiastic and full of energy. She treated my children as if they were her own and I felt that she truly cared for them. She was more like a member of our family than an employee.

Rhea is also a thorough housekeeper and very reliable. She was never late or absent in the entire time she worked for us. She was also very flexible and easy going. She actually sings while doing the dishes and her cheerful manner brightened my home.

You may contact Rhea directly at 080-3406-9266 to discuss her availability.

Hi

My name is Christine, I am a 23 yo French student in Tokyo since last September. I would like to sell my services against a room with cheap rent. I graduated from International Business School in Paris, and I am now studying Japanese in Tokyo. I am looking for a family to rent a room at their home or even single persons, because the family I am living with now in Shibuya will go back to their home country this Summer.

Baby sitting, tutoring, homekeeping/cleaning, personal assistance are what people usually ask me but I am open to anything. I have a lot of experience with kids and I am very confortable with them. I am clean, serious and truthworthy.

I speak fluently English, French and Spanish and I have an Intermediate level in Japanese. So don't hesitate to talk about this to your friends even to non English speaking people.

I can give references.

You can contact me at shugirlboy@gmail.com and feel free to ask me any question.

Regards

Christine

I live on the Naval Base in Yokosuka Japan in a three bedroom apartment, therefore, if you are interested, you will need to be a Japanese National, or someone who has a working visa. You will need that for employment, as well as to gain access to the Naval Base. If you are interested, please email me at forcesup1@yahoo.com
