Japanese electronic dictionary

Japan With Kids - Forums: Suggest a Main Topic: Japanese electronic dictionary
By Linda Gondo on Thursday, March 23, 2006 - 11:40 am:

I am looking for an electronic dictionarywith pen input for kanji lookup. I had a look at the Canon V80 with my Japanese teacher but we found that the recognition was disappointingly inaccurate. At 34,000 yen I was expecting better quality. As an alternative, I thinking of buying one of the Sharp Zaurus PDAs (handwriting recognition is much much better)or maybe a Sony Clie or something similar and downloading one of the many dictionaries that are available online. I have just started looking into this option so I was wondering if anyone has done this and can perhaps recommend the model they bought and also any software they can recommend. I heard they have used Zaurus models that can be used for this type of application in Akihabara for under 20,000yen. Experiences anyone?
