By Stephanie Martin on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 - 6:20 pm:

Hello all,

I'm looking for either a cheap apartment to sublet while some kind soul is out of Tokyo, or I can house sit your place while you are away.

I've lived in Japan for many years but have been back living in NZ for about 3 years now.

In September 2007 I'm coming back, but since all my friends have moved on, I no longer have somewhere to stay and can't afford a hotel for two weeks :-)

I would need somewhere for two adults and one 6 yr old girl, 21st September thru 7th October 2007.

We are happy to take somewhere really small as we will be out and about all day and just need somewhere safe and inexpensive to sleep. When I lived in Tokyo I always gave my room/apartment to others to use while I was away and I'm hoping karma will come back around and pay me back :-)

If you have anything at all, or know of someone who has a place they wont be using, I promise we will leave it in immaculate condition and treat it with utmost respect.

Please, someone try to help us out.

Kind regards,
Stephanie

We often stay in Port Douglas
Costs about $65 one way by taxi from the airport. If flying with kids the overnight flight is besty to ensure the kids sleep. This means you arrive at 4am. If you have a family it works out as cheap as the local bus but the bus means hanging around the airport till opening hours so go for the luxury of a taxi.

A really nice place we have stayed for the last 3 yrs is Port Douglas Apartments. 4 star Small block of new units positioned between the end of the main shopping street and the beach. Very clean and new and reasonably priced. If you hire a car they have free undercover parking, which is also important with kids, getting shopping and strollers in and out. Has pool, kitchen, free bbq and laundry but best is its only 300 m from the beach.
Have a nice holiday

Gloria, In July the only place you will find warm weather in Australia is in the north. I suggest you keep to places like Cairns, Port Douglas, Townsville, Broome, Darwin, or one of the islands off the coast of the state, Queensland like the Whitsunday's or Hamilton Island. Be prepared though because most southern Australian's go north for the winter holidays in search of sun and the school holidays are the first two weeks of July so many places will be booked out. There are many flights directly from Tokyo to Cairns and Port Douglas is less than an hour drive from Cairns. Port Douglas is a resort town so if you search on the internet for accomodation there you should be able to find some resonable places and book directly rather than working through an agent. Qantas flies direct from Tokyo to Cairns and you can make bookings on-line at www.qantas.com.au

Good luck and have a great trip.

We plan to travel to Australia in July. Does anybody know if it is possible to swimm in the ocean in that period of the year and where? We will spend almost 3 weeks there. What route should be the best taking account that we would like to have warm weather and that we travel with our child, 5 years old. Can anybody recommend me hotels, aparthotels or any travel agency. My japanese is very poor.
Any help will be very welcome!
Gloria
