By Cathy Edwards on Monday, September 5, 2005 - 8:10 pm: Courier service Does anyone know of a messenger company within Tokyo, for sending small parcels, that has an online booking service in English or English speaking operators? Thanks
By Nancy on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 - 12:09 am:Cathy, the post office has pretty competitive rates on parcels and you can make the arrangements for pick up by contacting the English language help line. The telephone number is 03-3560-1139. The driver will bring the slip and you just need to fill it out, which you can do in English. Although much of the homepage is in English (http://www.post.japanpost.jp/english/service/index.html), the section on parcels is only in Japanese. But some information is visual, including the diagram showing the maximum dimensions and weight of each box. Futher down you will see a blue chart which has the prices. The top row is the total dimension of the package, the column at the left refers to zones. Don't forget to ask about insuring the contents (a basic amount may be included in the courier fee)If you took the parcel to the post office yourself you save a little bit. Hope this helps.
