Japan With Kids - Forums: Shopping in Japan: Herbal Medicines/Remedies
By Louize Miura on Thursday, June 22, 2000 - 7:14 pm:

Does anybody know the name/address/tel no or homepage details of a Homeopathic Medicine supplier or Institute in Japan? l have ordered a catalogue from America and, apart from the fact that it's not bilingual it takes so long to get orders processed... Alternatively a good European resource would be helpful.
Thank you

Does anyone know where to buy herbal medecine, such as garlic and ginger capsules?
Internet online shopping with delivery for Japan, would be welcome too!
Cheers

If you are in Tokyo, there is a place that everyone RAVES about in Kita-Senju (Hibiya Line: grey subway line, top right corner of subway map).

I know you come out the so-called "Ito-Yokado exit", head down the street a little ways as if you were going to Ito Yokado, turn left, and then... uh... I don't know the rest. (I know there are half a dozen herbal medicine places near that exit alone, but I don't know which shop is the one that everyone is always talking about.)

Is there anyone that knows, by any chance? They make things to order there-- you explain your symptoms and they craft something up for you. Now, I know that ALL the places compound things for you on the spot after you explain your symptoms, but apparently this one place is REALLY spot-on with what they cook up.

I am sure that there are many more good herbal meds stores around, but this is the only one that I happen to know that people go out of their way to visit. If you just need garlic/ginger/etc and nothing specific to your own situation, I would think you could find a place within a 5-minute walk of your nearest station -- they're everywhere.
