Bras for the voluptuous and/or nursing

Japan With Kids - Forums: Shopping in Japan: Clothing: Bras for the voluptuous and/or nursing
By Melissa Mcnulty on Sunday, February 23, 2003 - 4:30 pm:

A friend of mine put me on to this excellent website for bras that caters exclusively to those of D-cup and up to JJ-cup, plus up to K-cup in nursing bras. If you thought that you were confined to a life of sensible corsetry in beige or white, take a look and feel heartened by the gorgeous lingerie on offer. The site is based in the UK, but the shipping is reasonable. I just got my paper catalogue in the mail, and feel happy about the experience of bra buying in Japan for the first time in, well, ages...

Anyway, the website is http://www.bravissimo.com
Oh, they also have a great range of swimwear and some things called "strappy tops" that look good for the summer.

They are a U.K. company.

Big Bras --
I just got my Isetan Shinjuku Department Store I-club monthly mailing. There are currently Wacoal and Raphaelle bras from A to E cup from 85 cm to 110 cm.

There are also F and G cup from 90 to 100 cm.

120 cm only goes up to D cup.

Anyway, it might be possible to try them on. Though I think in Japan they are really funny about that. I was asked not to try something on in a shop once (they thought I would stretch and ruin the garment, and then they wouldn't be able to sell it -- yes it was kind of insulting -- I am not huge, I just have a big bust by local standards). However if you have trouble you can always try going to the I-Club help desk and (gently) complaining.

the web site for the i-club is: www.isetan.co.jp/iclub/

Bras by internet within Japan.

Sorry, Japanese only.

If you click on the size you want you can see the selection. Needless to say, the largest selection is reserved for the rail thin and barely there market, but they do have a choice going all the way to cup "I" and chest measurement 120 cm.

I got this lead from a friend who bought a pair of size 41.5 shoes there with heels, and is very pleased with her purchase, the price, the way they fit, the quality and the speed of delivery. I just hope they don't change the link anytime soon. Anway you can always go to the root if you need to: http://www.cecile.co.jp/

TOKYO: Seibu Departement Store at Ikebukuro:
Basement level adjacent to Yurakucho subway line concourse.

Bra and intimate wear sale through 10 September.
Open until 9pm through 8 September and until 8pm on Sunday and Monday (the last day).

They have various brands up to size 85cm up to F cup (or G cup in smaller sizes, for example up to 80cm). Wacoal, Triumph, etc. Lots of lacy flowery stuff, but a few plainer styles. Not much in cotton.

I'm a USA 38D or 38DD depending on the make and style. So in Japan that puts me at 85cm and E or G cup depending on the make/style.

The sale prices go as low as Y1800, but in my size the sale prices were about Y3800 - 4900.

The good news is that you can try them on! They have a row of temporary dressing rooms at the back, just remember to remove your shoes!

Wow, thanks for the information. I had no idea I could actually buy a bra in Japan. In fact I've been counting the days until we go home for a visit in November so I can replenish my stock. My bra is a US 38DDD and it says JP 85DDD so maybe I will pop in Seibu on Saturday. My bras have stretched a bit so I would love to get a couple of new ones.

Buying clothes for kids is a really difficult job as kid's clothes size change very frequently. I always struggle in finding right size clothes for my kids so I always buy a plus size dress for both my kids. Last week I bought kate mack dresses for my small girl but a plus size.
