Ultrasound
By Barbie Stovall on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 8:56 pm: HI, Im just wondering if anyone knows a place to get the new kind of ultrasound, 3D or 4D? In the states they have places that will do only the ultrasound and they will make a VHS and photos for you to keep. I live in Hayama (near Kamakura). Closer is better, Zushi, Kamakura, Yokosuka, Yokohama or Tokyo. I am due in May and would like to get it done asap. If you can help, please let me know!!

By miko shimada on Saturday, February 18, 2006 - 11:04 pm:I can give you a few names of ob/gyn clinics in Tokyo for 4D. I can tell you that 4D is exciting, and worth spending your money and time! Ando Ladies Clinic: http://www.andoladys.com/sanka.html Phone: 03-5773-5470 Address: 3-2-4 Lions Station Plaza 6th Floor, Higashiyama, Meguro-ku 4D Cost: Yen 7000 (including photos and VHS tape to take home) Many of my maternity friends from my swim class go there. Language may be an issue for you at this clinic, but apparently, the doctors there are very friendly, and spend long enough time to show you the 4D pictures on site. Sanno Hospital: http://www.sannoclc.or.jp/english/index.html I understand that they also have 4D services for Yen 7000? (You may need to pay registration fee in addition). Many foreign residents in Tokyo go to this hospital, so you may feel comfortable communicating the staffs there. Sugiyama Sanfujinka: http://www.sugiyama.or.jp/og/childbirth/4d.php Tel: 03-3323-3541 Address: 1-12-14 Izumi, Suginami-ku, Tokyo This is the clinic I currently go for check-ups. 4D is Yen 10500. This place also provides take-home VHS of 4D pictures. It is a very local clinic, but I add this information just in case you are interested. Enjoy your maternity life!
By Elisa on Sunday, February 19, 2006 - 10:14 am:Miko, Thank you sooo much. I will try to get an appointment tomorrow with Ando Ladies Clinic. Where do you go for your maternity swim class? I was looking for that too! I am 13 weeks and I am already getting fat! My best.
By Miko Shimada on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 - 9:51 pm: Elisa, hope you got your 4D taken. Here is the info on the maternity swim class I go to. Toa Central Gym (Shimokitazawa) Phone: 03-3467-0388 Address: 1-46-5 Kitazawa, Setagaya, Tokyo Classes: Wed. & Sat. 10:30-12:30 Cost: Yen 10500/ 8 classes (Classes are in Japanese) I have posted the same info under "Pregnancy and Fitness" section as well.
By Brett Cavanagh-Ochiai on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 - 7:28 pm:Elisa, my wife and I just booked in for a 3D and 4D scan at Aiiku hospital in Hiroo. Bookings for these scans are available every Thursday morning. I can't remember the exact cost but its somewhere around 7000 yen, bring your own video tape. They can only do the scans after the 20th week. Unfortunately the web site info (http://www.aiiku.net/) is only in Japanese, but all information including prices, procedures and a bunch of additional reading is available in English at the hospital. Their doctors also speak excellent English, waiting times are minimal and they encourage full participation of fathers. I highly recommend it.
By Anna-Lee Ura on Saturday, May 20, 2006 - 10:01 pm:This is probably too late for some but the clinic I go to uses 2D and 4D for every ultrasound after about 20 weeks. I have a video with about 6 different sessions on it. I live in Saitama. The clinics name is Kato Clinic. It has a home page. The clinic is very popular and you can't book but if you go in early and take a number the wait is not so long. There should be plenty of places to get it done in Tokyo though. I highly recommend getting a 4D done, even if its only once. The early ones you can see the whole body and see the baby moving. My son appeared to flip the bird at us. Now we can only see his head. Sadly last time he covered his face with his hand and we couldnt see much at all. Next kenshin (36 weeks) is on Tuesday. Apparently at home (Australia) it costs over $100 for one session and more for the video. At my clinic its standard and costs the normal price of about 5800yen. Gotta love the technology!

Phone Number 048-882-0034. When I went there one receptionist spoke some English. I hope this info is helpful to anyone out there hoping to get a 4D ultrasound done. I cant recommend the clinic for giving birth though. Just not what I was hoping for.
