Japan With Kids - Forums: Health Topics: Pregnancy/Birth/Childrearing: 2008 pregnancy group

Hi. Im 11 weeks pregnant with my second baby. My first son is 2 years old. When I was pregnant with my first son I had a ton of other pregnany friends. This time I feel like Im the only pregnant one in Tokyo. I work semi-full time so Im not able to go to the Tokyo pregnancy group. I would love to meet some other moms with a sense of humor and the need to break all rules and have a cup of coffee while pregnant. Yes I said it, coffee! If your interested please email me.

Hello Dsmama! Just wanted to let you know that I will also be a 2008 (Dec) mom for the first time; that would mean I'm almost done with my first trim. if the date doesn't change again.
I would have loved to have joined you for that coffee if i didn't feel absolutely repulsed by the thought of it :-).
I had decided to take the year off from work anyway (I teach) before I found out I was pregnant, which means I have a lot of free time, so if you're still interested in meeting up -my choice being some juice IF i can keep it down, do let me know. I know I kept a sushi dinner in, and enjoyed every bit of it, so I'm kinda easy about stuff like that and tend to take restrictions as more of a guideline. I'd love to hear what your experiences have been with the Japanese ob-gyn system, as I am not very sure I like what I am seeing...
I meet Dr. Ohmori at Sanno Hospital. He doesn't speak too much English, but I have an interpreter with me at all times. Nevertheless, the appointments have always left me feeling like I was rushed and didn't have enough time to ask all my questions, and that if they were asked, they were usually answered in a very non-'concrete' manner. This pregnancy being my first, it always leaves me feeling a bit disillusioned and nervous.
Have you faced similar circumstances?
Would love to hear from you, so if you're interested, do email me.
