By Chris and Naomi Reynolds on Wednesday, November 1, 2000 - 12:32 am:We live in Hakuraku, 3 stops from Yokohama on the Toyoko Line. Our (very friendly and energetic!) 2-year old daughter, Sarah, is looking for companions to play with not too far away. We don't know exactly how playgroups work, but perhaps it's quite simple. By Hiromi KOIKE on Friday, March 28, 2003 - 7:45 pm: Hi! I am planning to establish an international playgroup for kids from 0 to 3 years old. It will be held once a month in Seya-ku, Yokohama. Basically, I would like to provide a place for mothers and kids from foreign countries to join some activities in Japanese; singing Japanese traditional children's songs and fingerplays, doing crafts, listening to a story, learning Japanese key expressions, etc. Also, in order for mothers to live in Japanese society more at ease, I want to figure out some difficulties, troubles or stresses you are encountering with. Let me hear your voice! Oh, here is a good news! It's totally free! If you are interested, please contact me. / Japanese volunteers are also welcomed!
By Tina Peterson on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 - 12:11 pm:We are not exactly a playgroup, but can provide your child with the same opportunities they would get in one! Let me introduce you to Imagine Child Development Center! We are located on the 13th floor of Landmark Tower, which is in the Sakuragicho neighborhood of Yokohama. We offer child care, a preschool program, and drop in child care for children ages 2 months - 6 years. Imagine is operated by an American, and the language of operation is English. We invite you to come visit our center at any time! In September and October, we have one hour introductory sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 , where you can meet the educators, see your child interacting with them, tour the center, and get all of your questions answered! Please call ahead if you wish to come to an introductory session so we can be sure we have adequate staffing available to meet the children's needs. You can reach us at 045-224-2121 or at imagine@lfa.ne.jp We look forward to helping serve your child care needs. Drop in care is available 7 days a week!
