I am 30 years old Japanese woman. I live in Ryokuen-toshi on Soutetsu-line. Anybody have a playgroup with me? I just came back from Chicago last month. And I really miss the U.S. I want my son to be a international person!! Please give me a e-mail!
ciao!

We live in Hakuraku, 3 stops from Yokohama on the Toyoko Line. Our (very friendly and energetic!) 2-year old daughter, Sarah, is looking for companions to play with not too far away. We don't know exactly how playgroups work, but perhaps it's quite simple.

Hi! I am planning to establish an international playgroup for kids from 0 to 3 years old. It will be held once a month in Seya-ku, Yokohama. Basically, I would like to provide a place for mothers and kids from foreign countries to join some activities in Japanese; singing Japanese traditional children's songs and fingerplays, doing crafts, listening to a story, learning Japanese key expressions, etc. Also, in order for mothers to live in Japanese society more at ease, I want to figure out some difficulties, troubles or stresses you are encountering with. Let me hear your voice! Oh, here is a good news! It's totally free! If you are interested, please contact me. / Japanese volunteers are also welcomed!

We are not exactly a playgroup, but can provide your child with the same opportunities they would get in one!

Let me introduce you to Imagine Child Development Center! We are located on the 13th floor of Landmark Tower, which is in the Sakuragicho neighborhood of Yokohama.

We offer child care, a preschool program, and drop in child care for children ages 2 months - 6 years. Imagine is operated by an American, and the language of operation is English.

We invite you to come visit our center at any time! In September and October, we have one hour introductory sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 , where you can meet the educators, see your child interacting with them, tour the center, and get all of your questions answered! Please call ahead if you wish to come to an introductory session so we can be sure we have adequate staffing available to meet the children's needs. You can reach us at 045-224-2121 or at imagine@lfa.ne.jp

We look forward to helping serve your child care needs. Drop in care is available 7 days a week!

Sakarigichou International Playgroup
Looking for a great place for your toddlers to play as well as meet other English speaking mothers. Spaces currently available for people looking for a playgroup in the Yokohama area.

WHEN: Thursdays (rain, hail or shine) 10am - 12pm
WHERE: Fukushi Center, Sakaragichou (just behind Sakuragichou Station)
AGE GROUP: 0 - 3 year olds

WHAT IS IT:
This playgroup provides a fun English speaking environment for children whose parents (mothers or Fathers) speak English. It is a private, non-profit group and is NOT intended as a school for teaching English. The group is run by the participating parents. English ability is mandatory as the playgroup is run in English and participation is required from the parent. We encourage free play as well as structured activities in the form of songs, crafts and story time. Basically the children have a great time!!! Fantastic opportunity to meet other mothers in your area.

I will become a house-husband in October, taking care of our 1.5 yr old boy. Are there any other fathers out there in my position in the Yokohama area? I'm British, my wife is Japanese. Meeting up or just e-mail contacts, both welcome. Peter

By Thekubos on Friday, June 20, 2008 - 4:59 pm:

Hi Peter,

Yes, part-time house-husband myself. Any plans to engage you and family in playgroup activities? If so, you may be interested in our multicultural/multilingual playgroup. It's in Kamakura, so it may be a haul for you. Let me know if interested.

Cheers,

Mike
