By Steve on Friday, November 12, 2004 - 12:04 pm:Cornelia, The Momo-Taro web site lists only one store in Tokyo: Takashimadaira 8-19-15, Itabashi-ku Phone: 03-3934-4144 Open weekdays 11am-11pm, Weekends 10am-11pm Open all year including holidays. Located on the north side of Takashimadaira Station. Three other shops are listed, all in Saitama -- Toda, Kawaguchi and Iwatsuki. The page also says it is affiliated with the FamiCon Shop Momo-Taro in Kinki but the hours, services and concepts are different.
By Cornelia on Thursday, November 4, 2004 - 4:10 pm:Other places that may sell second hand games (I have not checked these all out yet but I did call a couple of them... all input welcome on this subject): Book Off many locations http://www.bookoff.co.jp. The Otsuka branch (03-5976-5211) had a very small selection of Gameboy, maybe 13 pieces, but loads of Playstation games, when I checked today. The Book Off in Harajuku (1-8-8 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, 03-5775-6818) has a much larger selection of about 8 shelves with maybe 25 pieces per shelf. Furuhon Ichiba 03-5241-0386 http://www.tay2.co.jp Nerima-ku, Hikarigaoka station on the Yurakucho-sen Mario 3204-7350 (office) 2-13-2 Takadanobaba, store: 03-3200-7421 new and used software and hardware, open until 22:00, adn (?) 3-1-3 Takadanobaba 03-3368-2122 Seibundo Shoten 5-1-17 Hakusan 03-3813-9438 no Gameboy at the moment Book 8 1-33-24 Kita Otsuka 03-5394-6017 about 10 pieces of Gameboy software The most obvious area for this sort of thing is the Jimbocho/Kanda district. But I haven't gotten up the energy to wander around down there yet. Maybe there it might even be possible to find some in English instead of Japanese!
By Cornelia on Monday, November 1, 2004 - 10:59 am:Family Com Shop Momotaro M-F 11:00 - 23:00 Sa, Su, Ho 10:00 - 23:00 Takashimadaira branch (Mita train line, Takashimadaira station) tel: 03-3934-4144 3-19 Takshimadaira (a couple of blocks from the D2 home improvement store) Big selection of Nintendo, Gameboy, DVDs, pokemon cards, etc. Also have a fixed price list of what they will pay you for games that you've gotten tired of. This is a chain just like "Book-off" and you can get a member's card and points with each purchase. If you forget your card, they will add the points using your phone number which is an unusual feature. I found the website for Momotaro at http://www.momotaro-d.com, but I can't read it on my computer. Can someone look and see how many locations they have (are they all over Japan?) and if there are any in Bunkyo-ku, Toshima-ku, or Chuo-ku?
