A friend of mine has told me it is possible to buy a basic kind of keitai at places such as 7-11 or Lawson. I think it works like our Tracfone system and you buy a card for airtime.
Does anyone know more about this?

It's basically the same as a tracfone (I have
one in the U.S.). It's called a pre-paid cell
phone. I bought mine at the Vodaphone
shop because I wanted an English phone.
I think it was about 13,000 because I
opted for email and camera abilities. You
can buy a pre-paid card at a convenience
store and they last for two months. Cards
come in various increments.

Will US cellphones work in Japan? I have a Nokia 252, I was wondering if it can be used over there or will I have to buy one?
