By Trupti Gandhi on Thursday, June 29, 2006 - 3:31 pm: how can one find the government housing in tokyo? how do you apply or send the postcard for the draw? i understand it is all through internet, but do not exactly understand/know details... i have heard that the recent or new govt. housing is really good... and in good areas as well.. trupti:)
By Disneytokyo on Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 1:54 am:Hi Trupti, I just recently joined, my message might be a bit late, this is the website for govt housing http://www.ur-net.go.jp/ we used to live in one and it is cheaper with no agent's fee, only 3 months or 2 months deposit, no key money. You can have it under your own name as long as you have legal papers in Japan. Income must not be lower than 5 Million yen or was it 4Million? When i left the place, the deposit fee was returned to me althought not in full but they only deducted 5k yen since there was a big crack on the wall caused by a friend who got drunk! That's another story but my point is they are not like the private owners who will charge you with a month's rent to fix and clean the place. hence, it saves you a lot of money. Do email me if you have further questions.
