Akachan Honpo I feel is the best place to get baby stuff from. They have all things from mom's clothing during pregnancy to things for primary schooling. This shop is on the 5th floor of TOC building about 10 mins walk from Gotanda station. There is a free shuttle bus going to TOC building from Gotanda stn. (WEST exit) on JR- Yamanote line and Tokyu-ikegami line.

Just came back from my shopping spree in Akachan Honpo Gotanda and Kinischio - it was a blast! Definitely cheaper than the dept stores and a MUCH wider variety. Thanks for the heads up!

Yes. Found all the stuff that i was looking for and more. The variety of aprica and pooh bear items that they have for sale is amazing. I had to ship back home about 20 kg worth of stuff. It helped that there was a post office located in the same building in Gotanda. There was also a shuttle bus to bring us to the TOC building so it was a breeze getting there.

Just thought I would mention that Akachan Honpo is great to deal with. When we were looking for a safety gate for our stairs we received wonderful service from the Gotanda store of Akachan Honpo. Our stairs are so wide that the gates sold at pet stores were not adequate, so off to the baby shops we headed. Even though Toys R US carries the gates by Nihon-Ikuji, the staff were not willing to order anything for us. We saw on the internet that Nihon Ikuji does make a wide gate and so we contacted Akachan Honpo. The staff at Gotanda organized a special order from Nihon Ikuji for us and the gate was delivered to our home. As we live in Yokohama, it was really helpful to be able to place the order by phone/fax and not to have to make the trek to the shop. We were able to pay by bank transfer. It took about a week from the date we placed the order to receive the gate. If anyone would like the name of the English speaking clerk at Akachan Honpo who helped us, please e-mail me privately.
