A few days ago in a burst of energy I finally decided to replace a light fixture that had been trying to fall off the wall for years. (The new light fixture had been patiently waiting it's turn for about 2 years.)



Taking down the old one I discovered that USA style wire nuts were not used. I ended up going to my local light bulb shop (actually a very small electrician's shop that I had never used except to buy light bulbs) to get two lead sleeves and to borrow a crimping tool. I didn't know the lead sleeves were called "surevus" until I showed them one of the old ones that I had cut off (passing the point of no return).

To finish the job one neatly winds up the joined wires with electrical tape. The lead sleeves were compliments of the shop. I suppose I made some sort of impression wanting them at all!
